Mech Fights - 3D game, in OpenGL, using SDL

About

Started in January 2005, it didn´t take long for the game to take shape and be playable, although at a very primitive stage! The game will be an online 3rd person shoot´em up in a small arena, with mech warriors, or something similar to that (that´s why the name Mech Fights!). At this point the project is paused, I simply don´t have the time to go on with the game, due to my load of work on other projects. When my priorities are lower, I will continue with the project. If there is a team interested in continuing with the project, please contact me.

Current features

  • C++, OpenGL, SDL
  • Simple game menu
  • Loads MD2 files (quake 2 models) for Mech warriors
  • Playable mech warrior, runs and jumps
  • Simple collision detection
  • Does shoot, but not really a good system
  • Windows and Linux compatible, source code compiles with no problems and runs on both operating systems
  • Map generated with formulas (doesn´t load files yet)

Target Features

  • Online playing.
  • 3rd person view.
  • Up to 6 to 10 different mech models.
  • About 4 to 6 different weapon/shooting styles.
  • Enhanced terrain generator, supporting objects, lakes, clouds.
  • Support to multiple platforms, including Linux and Windows, at the very least.
  • Jetpacks available.

Screenshots

The game concept and planning was born at February 2005. Due to low time availabilty, the game is still at an early stage, but there are howerver some screenshots available. The HUD is being implemented, the game is very simple. The first is a preview of the game menu. The second shows the general look of the terrain and the skybox. The third is a top view of the mech. I´ll post a couple more beta screenshots in the future, and maybe some earlier screenshots. :-)
